Takin' it to the Streets
At risk people feel that “regular” society thinks they are in their current circumstances by choice and of their own free will. The reality is no one really chooses this life, most people find themselves in it, with no hope of getting out. Takin’ It To The Streets has caring volunteers who provide a non-judgmental environment which will lead to trust, and trust leads to the ability to offer real help and accountability. We need to make every effort to reduce the scorn and increase the kindness and let them know that no matter what, Jesus loves them.
Takin' it rolls every night from Monday to Saturday with sandwiches, hot coffee, tea and friendship, showing God's love in a real and practical way. We park on the street, so as to give the street population direct access to the food.
Many people have only about $30.00 of expendable income after paying their rent per month, so we go into the single room hotels with sandwiches, granola bars, and noodle soups to help supplement their daily food. Loneliness is just as prevalent as hunger. For many of the people, we are quite often the only people they will see all day, or even at all.
